The Joy of June

June is here.  Wow.  We’re already almost halfway through the year.  Where has the time gone?

Coming up are some great reasons to celebrate:

June 11th is National Corn on the Cob Day, which is a good idea about what to take along camping or hiking or to one of those pot-luck picnics or other outdoor activities that seem to be Summer staples.

June 13th is Sewing Machine Day, which was interesting to discover.  I have never even heard of that day, but I know a lot of people whose favorite possession is their sewing machine, so it seems like a great, appropriate day celebrating the art form that is sewing, and the technology that made it so much easier.

June 14th is Flag Day, a day to celebrate the country where we live.  It is a US holiday, but I think it’s probably a good day for everyone to display whatever flag they love.

June 17th is Eat Your Vegetables Day… so, for once, clean your plate. 🙂

June 18th this year is both Father’s Day *and* Go Fishing Day.  I think that is a pretty massive hint about what to do with Dad this year.

The 21st is National Selfie Day.  Time to snap a picture and show us where you are.

June 26th is Forgiveness Day.  I really like the idea of having a day set aside for this.  It helps us remember and focus on letting go of resentments that can build up within us, so that we can move on with our lives and not be trapped in a cycle of hatred.

29th is Waffle Iron Day.   My favorite meal is breakfast, so I am all in favor of leaving the waffle iron out all day and getting creative with meals.  Perhaps burgers with waffles for buns?

June 30th is Meteor Day.  Hopefully that just means we should look up, and celebrates astronomy, rather than predicting any meteors headed straight for us.

Whatever happens this month, let’s remember to take the time to celebrate the little things in life… and of course, if you have any questions along the way, come on over and visit us at WikiAnswers /!

  1. What happened to Answers? Got an email basically saying the site was shut down for everything except answering questions. Do you know what happened? Any answer would be great. I used to be a supervisor on Answers. My name was cyclone777. Thanks for your help.

    1. Kai,

They made everything read-only. Sorry. I know a lot of people are a little lost. There are some supervisors gathering in different places. Try the “Former WikiAnswers Supervisors” group on Facebook if you want. I’ll let you in. 🙂
