Most of our trips have been scheduled around going to the World Science Fiction Convention which is in a different city every year. But these days we are more into touring gardens.

Q: Is there any place you’d love to visit, but haven’t yet?
A: A dream trip would be to New Zealand on a Lord of the Rings/Hobbit tour.

Q: Is there a place that’s special to you and why?
A: A special place would be Egg Clectic which is our favorite breakfast place. The servers all know us and bring our raspberry ice tea as soon as they see us come in the door. They save their coffee grounds and egg shells for my garden.

Q: What are your special interests, hobbies, or collections?
A: Special interests include my water aerobics class, gardening, butterfly monitoring, and crocheting. We have a lot of science fiction art and very special one of a kind knick knacks. And we commissioned a unicorn, tiger and daffodil wood bed.

Lindy with Hugh O’Donnell

Q: What about special talents? Anything you are especially good at?
A: My special talent is storytelling. I love Irish legends and often tell them to children or church groups.

Q: If you had three wishes to come true, what would they be?
A: Three wishes, basically if we could have world peace, who needs any more wishes.

Q: What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done?
A: The most daring and crazy thing I have ever done is to answer a personal ad. My husband put an ad for “Looking for a lady to help me find the last unicorn” in a magazine in 1983. A friend of a friend saw the ad in Madison and knew I wore a pair of unicorn earrings. So both of them forced me to write a response. My now husband replied with a unicorn bookmark and a computer graphic of a unicorn that he drew on his Atari computer. We corresponded for a while and finally had our first date at what is now Bristol Faire. And that year they did have a unicorn (yes it was a surgically altered goat.) We loved the costumes and the jousting. By January 1984, I moved in with him and we have been together ever since.

Q: Are you a glass half full or half empty kind of gal?
A: My glass is half full, I am an optimist.

Lindy, Winner of the Limerick ContestQ: What is your favorite kind of music and do you have a favorite song?
A: I like old fashioned rock n roll. Beatles, or Dan Fogelberg. I think the song Longer by Fogelberg says how I feel about Larry.

What are some of your other favorites:
Television. Well I am in mourning over Stephen Colbert’s Colbert Report. But my husband teases me about all the autopsy shows I watch like Bones, Forever, Castle, etc. And my Saturday morning garden shows like Midwest Gardening, Garden Smart and P. Allen Smith.

Movie. I love animation so all the Despicable Me / Minion movies make me laugh.

Poet. My favorite poet is Ogden Nash. But when I am serious, I love the poem Abou Ben Adam. It has great philosophy.

Book. How dare you limit me to just one! We have over 5000 books and about 2500 are autographed. My husband got me Marion Zimmer Bradley‘s Mists of Avalon and that was the first time he wrote I love you.

Subject in School. I love history and social studies. I graduated second in my class because a friend of mine could get 100 or 99 percent in Advanced Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus. I was only one tenth of a point behind her in my overall average.

Foods. My favorite is spareribs and sauerkraut.

Q: How did you discover Answers?
A: I discovered Answers accidentally in 2009 but really didn’t do much because I was answering at Yahoo Answers. But I hated seeing all the people posting

Lindy, At a Castle in Wales
Lindy, At a Castle in Wales

illegal copies of books and movies. I think Answers is better because they care about the right answer and not the most popular answer.

Q: What do you enjoy doing on Answers most?
A: I like editing the best and I always try to answer a question when I remove a stupid or mean answer that someone posted. I think if you have a hobby, answering questions about that hobby on Answers is a fun thing to do, especially gardening because I can’t garden in winter. I have been searching questions on my favorite flowers and answering old questions or editing poor responses.

Q: And last, but certainly not least, tell us about one quirky or interesting random fact about you that most people may not know?
A: I was born November 9, 1952. I don’t mind saying my age because my father told me that on my birthday I could get one kiss per year from whoever I asked. So it gets better every year.
