Loves music and met Tony the Tiger – Let’s say hi to Bobo192! He’s Grrreat!

Shrewsbury, England

We recently had a nice interview with Bobo192. With over 355,000 contributions on his side, Bobo192, aka Matthew, has got it going on! This Double Platinum Contributor has been a member at Answers since 2009 and has worked tirelessly to help out on the site. He’s a Supervisor and Mentor, helping new Supervisors learn the ropes, A Community Outreach WikiGuide, reaching out to the community, and a Site Investigator in the Vandal Patrol Program, on the lookout for vandalism.

Q:  Is there anything special about your username?

A:  Bobo has been a childhood nickname ever since I was around 21 months old. The 192 came about as, when I first attempted to register myself as Bobo on one Internet service, it was already taken and 192 came about as the first suggested alternative.

Q:  What can you tell us about your family and where you’re from?

A:  I live in Shrewsbury, England, and was born in Brighton. I live with my mother and father, and have two brothers, one sister, a sister-in-law, and one niece.

Q:  What life accomplishments are you proud of?

A:  I feel that our role in life is to achieve more than those around us believe is possible. As a young baby I wasn’t expected to live beyond three months, and in spite of my disabilities, I have overcome this and countless other difficulties in my life by refusing to say no.

Q:  Is there anything you feel sets you apart, something that makes you unique you’d like to mention?

A:  I have an acquired brain injury which inhibits both my short term and long term memory. In spite of this I am thankful that I was never closed off from any circles of friends I have made throughout my life, some of whom have now been friends for nearly 25 years. I am also grateful that this has never clashed with my musical ambitions.

Q:  Do you have a special motto, belief in life or quote; something you always keep in mind or live by?

A:  My favourite motto at present is from a song by Warren Zevon, entitled “Never Too Late for Love” – the last line of that song is “Don’t stop believing in tomorrow” – I have always believed this to be of paramount importance. Our tomorrow is others’ today.

Q:  What are you most passionate about in your life?

A:  Music is my life, my soul, and my inspiration. Anyone who knows me well will testify that my musical taste is insanely wide, and that I have music for every mood, and all of my various states of mind. If I need calming down I will listen to music. If I need picking up, I will listen to music which puts me emotionally in the same place I was when I first listened to it.

Q:  What are your special interests, hobbies, or collections?

A:  My main collection is my music. Having been involved in both the practical and theoretical sides of music for over 20 years, I will always foster the creation and interpretation of music from anyone of any level of self-belief who realizes they are keeping fresh the love of their life and not allowing it to go stale in the eyes of adversity fostered by today’s mass-marketing world.

Q:  What do you enjoy for recreation?

A:  I listen to music 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Music is my life and my world, without music in my life I would be empty. I enjoy exploring around the many hills of the local area, and I often go for walks of ten miles or more in the afternoon or evening outside of wintertime.

Q:  Do you have any special talents?

A:  I love to play the piano and guitar – I took up the guitar in around 2010, but have played the piano since early childhood – on the advice, and considerable cynicism, of my teacher, who didn’t believe I would be physically capable.

Q:  How did you discover

A:  The exact circumstances of discovering the site are something of a blur, I must have Googled a question rather than a search term and stumbled upon interactive Q&A. The community were immediately friendly, welcoming, and keen to help out anywhere they could. Five years later, many of those same people who welcomed me back then are still close to me.

Q:  What enticed you to join our community and what do you like best about the community?

A:  For me, the most important facet of Wikianswers is the ability to share our own knowledge, to build a database of knowledge for the whole world. As a child we are constantly wondering “why”, but something along the way stops us from asking that question for ourselves. Equally, we are capable of viewing the knowledge others have voluntarily passed along to us.

Q:  If you were inviting someone to join, what reason(s) would you give them to convince them they would love being a part of our community?

When I first joined the site, I was amazed at how quickly everyone became not just friends, but like family. And like every family, we have grown, shared in happiness, sadness, loss, gain, but mostly a world of knowledge and positive community spirit.

Q:  And last, but certainly not least, tell us about one quirky or interesting random fact about you that most people may not know?

A:  I have met Tony the Tiger. The man who does the voice of Tony the Tiger in the United Kingdom visited our college in 2004 and talked about his experience in the music industry.
