What is your first name?  Linda

What is your occupation?

I am a Senior Nursing Health Care Assistant Practitioner working in Palliative Care.

What is your username and how did it come about?

My username is Lindaloulou. Whilst I was looking after my friend’s children, I made up a story and called one of the characters ‘ Loopy Lou’ The Rabbit. The next time I saw the children they came running up calling ‘Hello, Lindaloulou’ and asked for more stories. Although the children have grown, they still call me Auntie Loulou.

Where in the world do you hail from and what makes this place special?Beach huts on the North Yorkshire coast

I am a “Yorkshire Lass Born and Bred” and proud of it. Yorkshire, England is a county full of beautiful scenery and landscapes from rolling hills to sunny beaches. What makes it special to me is that it holds all my family history.

How did you discover

I found like many other members. I was researching a project for work and the site kept coming up at the top of the Google search page. Eventually I had to take a look. I found an unanswered question I could answer, then another and I was hooked.

What enticed you to join our community?

Every time I switched the computer on I found myself checking out the site so I joined. It was addictive!

What is your favorite thing to do on

I love to answer questions. I enjoy researching the answers because it gives me an excuse to learn and update my knowledge and to provide informative and unbiased answers. I also love to help people.

If you were inviting someone to join, what reason would you give that person to become a part of our community?

You gain great satisfaction from answering questions and helping others. There are also many other things to do: for example supervising and mentoring. The site also gives you the chance to meet people from around the world.

What accomplishments on are you proud of?

I have only been a member of the team for around a year and – in that space of time – I have reached 10,000 contributions and become a Supervisor with the expert tuition of my fantastic mentor Skullcandy88.

What is the most daring thing you’ve ever done?Pot Holing

I went pot holing (a sport practiced by exploring local caves) in the Derbyshire Dales just to impress a boyfriend.

Do you view the glass ‘half full’ or ‘half empty’?

I view the glass as being “half full.” Why? Because I am an optimistic sort of person. I don’t believe I could do my job if I viewed things the other way round.

You can only pick one:  banjo, butterfly, or babbling brook. Which would you choose and why?

I would choose the babbling brook because I think that represents my life the best. As the sun shines, it is full of sparkle as it trickles and flows over the stony ground, but it also has its dark muddy times. It is forever gurgling as it meanders along its life path, or gushing as it forces its way past obstacles nature placed in its way.

What are your special interests, hobbies, or collections?

I love to read and will read anything and everything. At the moment I’m reading Revelation by C.J.Sansom. I believe a book should be a book not a ‘tablet.’ There is nothing like curling up with a good book,a mug of steaming coffee or tea and then turning the pages. I also think that once opened, the book should be read from cover to cover, not begun and left unfinished.

What are you most passionate about in your life?

My family and my two dogs: an Irish Setter called Murphy, and an Italian Spinone called Maximus.

Galápagos Islands
Galápagos Islands

Where is one place in the world you would love to visit and why?

I would love to visit the Galápagos Islands because they are one of the last unspoilt regions of the world. I would love to see their dramatic scenery and wildlife and explore the islands, just like Charles Darwin did when he first set foot there.

What is one quirky or interesting random fact about you that most people may not know?

Once I start something I have to finish it – however long it takes, and it has got to be done well.
